Research Overview
Tesamorelin is a stabilized 44-amino-acid analog of growth hormone–releasing hormone (GHRH). A trans-3-hexenoic acid modification on the N-terminus protects it from rapid enzymatic degradation, giving it a notably longer research half-life than native GHRH(1-44).
It is widely used in laboratory studies of the somatotropic axis, visceral adipose tissue biology, and pulsatile GH release dynamics.
Mechanism of Action
Tesamorelin binds the GHRH receptor on anterior pituitary somatotrophs in research models, stimulating endogenous pulsatile growth hormone release while preserving the natural feedback architecture of the GH/IGF-1 axis.
Research Applications
- GHRH receptor pharmacology
- Visceral adipose research models
- Lipid metabolism studies
- GH/IGF-1 axis signaling
